It’s hard to describe in words, photos or vídeo the feelings you experience standing before such a majestic natural wonder....complete admiration of pure elegant beauty that is so full of force and magnitude it’s terrifying and soothing at the same time!
Despite being a very touristy site, the falls of Iguaçu are definitely well worth shoulder-bumping with the crowds. Upon seeing the first falls we came to, we mistakenly took them for the principal ones and were quite disappointed by the lack of water and their size! Little did we know that the Garganta del Diabolo was awaiting us just down and around the bend!
What’s amazing too is that the rivers right up to the falls are relatively calm and shallow with gentle ripples.
To fully appreciate the grandeur of Mother Nature’s gift, we visited the falls on both the Brazilian and Argentinian sides. Photographers will prefer the morning light on the Brazilian side, but be prepared for the crowds you have to deal with. Both parks are fairly well organized and comfortable walking shoes suffice.
Just outside the national park of the falls, the Aves bird park focuses on the conservation of the beautiful birds of the Atlantic rainforest. We enjoyed a 2hr immersive promenade with the exuberant and colorful parrots, toucans and macaws just to name a few!

Ce spectacle est à la fois terrifiant et apaisant. Iguaçu est bien sûr un lieu hautement touristique mais, vu le spectacle, les hordes journalières de touristes sont très supportables.
Au début de notre visite côté brésilien, nous avons pris par erreur les premières chutes aperçues comme étants les principales et avons donc été déçus par leurs tailles et leurs débits! Nous ne savions pas qu’au détour du sentier, la Garganta del Diabolo nous attendait. Spectacle somptueux venu, en amont d’une rivière calme peu profonde qui ondule doucement jusqu’aux chutes.
Pour apprécier pleinement la grandeur de ce cadeau de la nature, nous avons visité le lendemain les chutes côté argentin. La Garganta del Diablo et le point culminant de la visite … Pas de mots… Sensation indescriptible…
A la sortie du site, le parc des Aves offre une excellente promenade de 2 heures à travers une forêt tropicale remplie d'oiseaux exotiques; vous pouvez admirer des toucans posés à quelques centimètres de vous qu’il est néanmoins interdit de caresser.
