Ca fait 2 semaines que nous sommes de retour à Lamin Lodge en Gambie ... heureux de retrouver VIVE LA VIE qui n’a pas souffert après un repos de 8 mois. Depuis notre arrivée nous le préparons pour reprendre la mer…carénage, dé-grippage en tout genre, coutures sur voiles et capote plus plein d’autres bricolages et réparations…. Thierry est « Mr Action-Man », toujours avec une mission, grande ou petite! ;)
Nous sommes aussi juste très contents de retrouver l’ambiance gambienne et de revoir nos amis Idi, Tumani, Buba, Gboy, Momboy et Omar qui sont toujours prêts à nous donner un coup de main.
Momodou, le directeur de l’école de Bambally nous a rendu visite afin de préparer notre retour au village. Nous prévoyons de nous rendre à Bambally la semaine prochaine pour célébrer les résultats du crowdfunding/financement participatif avec tout le village et être présents pour le début des travaux.
It’s been 2 weeks now that we’ve been back at Lamin lodge in the Gambia…happy to be back on board VIVE LA VIE and discover that she is no worst for the wear after an 8-month rest. We’ve been busy preparing her to take to the sea again, cleaning the hull, putting the sails back on and many other sundry chores and “bricolages”….Thierry is Mr Action-Man, always with a mission, big or small! ;)
It’s been a pleasure too just to be back in the Gambian ambiance and to see our friends Idi, Tumani, Buba, Gboy, Momboy and Omar; they are always ready to give a helping hand. We also had a surprise visit from Momodou, the principal of the school in Bambally. We are planning our visit to Bambally next week to celebrate the crowdfunding results with the entire village and to witness the beginning of the schoolwall’s construction.

Une pêcheuse de la mangrove; elle pêche des petits crabs et poissons pour faire une sorte de soupe très épicée et particulière…et pendant février et mars elle récoltent les huitres sur les palétuviers; /A fisherwoman of the mangrove; she fishes small crabs and fish to make a spicy soup that has a peculiar taste! And during February and March she collects oysters from the mangroves
