Ça nous a fait vraiment plaisir de retourner à Bambally…nous avons été ravis de revoir Chedi, notre cher ami-pêcheur ainsi que tous les enfants et enseignants de l’école. Nous avons rencontré le nouveau directeur, Momodou Bah, qui nous a chaleureusement accueilli et qui nous a touché par son enthousiasme et sa motivation pour améliorer les conditions de l’école. Il est arrivé en septembre et a déjà plein d’idées de projets…réparer le puit qui permettra ensuite de planter un jardin potager dans le but de compléter l'alimentation des enfants…installer un compteur électrique pour amener l’électricité à l’école…sécuriser l’école du danger des hyènes par un mur ou une clôture. En rentrant en France nous aimerions trouver une solution pour aider cette école. Les sommes en jeu n’étant pas énormes, nous pensons qu’avec un peu de solidarité, ils pourront mener à bien leurs projets.
Accompagnés de notre jeune comité d’accueil, nous avons déambulé dans le village en direction de l’école, l’occasion pour nous d’échanger avec les villageois en musique et en chansons.
Fin d’après-midi à l’école, Thierry, la Contrebasse Voyageuse et 2 jeunes percussionnistes ont trouvé la recette pour inciter les enfants à se lâcher en dansant avec une joie débordante !
Returning to Bambally was very special for us…we were delighted to see our fisherman friend Chedi again as well as all the schoolchildren and teachers. We met the newly appointed principal, Momodou Bah, who welcomed us warmly and impressed us right away with his enthusiasm and dedication to improve the school. He arrived just a few months ago and he yearns to undertake different school projects to enable better teaching and learning conditions. A few examples…. repair the school’s well which in turn would allow the school to plant a vegetable garden to supplement the children’s diet, install an electric meter, permitting the school to have electricity, build a wall or fence around the school (which is located on the outskirts of town) in order to secure it from hyenas who present a danger to the young schoolchildren. When we get back to France, we’re counting on finding a solution to help the school. The funds needed are relatively small, and with a bit of solidarity, we believe their projects are achievable.
With our welcoming committee in tow, we meandered our way through the village towards the school, exchanging with the villagers and sharing music along the way.
In the school yard that evening, Thierry, the Travelling Double-bass and 2 young percussionists got into the groove inciting the kids to get up and let loose!
